The thermal-structure coupling analysis of crane disc brake based on the bench test

The brake is an important safety device of the crane, and its temperature distribution affects the braking performance, while the bench test is an important method to test the brake performance. In the paper, the 3D transient thermal-structural coupling finite element model is constructed according to the actual size of brake, with the bench test data at different initial speed as input boundary conditions, which is based on the heat conduction and thermal stress finite element analysis theory. Through the simulation of braking process, the regularities of temperature/stress field distribution under different initial braking speed are analyzed, which is coupled and varied with the braking time, and the temperature and equivalent stress of the brake disc is increased with that of the initial speed. The results of simulation have reference value to research on crane disc brake performance.
