Simulation-Based Oscillation Analysis of Stacker Cranes: A Pragmatic Approach to Reducing Conservative Load Assumptions
Logistics and Intralogistics SystemsThis work addresses the conflict between conservative standardized oscillation coefficients and the computational inefficiency of high-resolution simulations in stacker crane design. It proposes a pragmatic, reduced-order modeling approach that transforms the complex mast structure into a base-excited single-degree-of-freedom equivalent system. Using a modal reduction, the model accurately captures location-dependent dynamics while accounting for variable hoist carriage positions. The methodology is validated through measurement series using smartphone-based MEMS sensors, demonstrating that standard hardware provides sufficient precision for industrial applications.
