Optimization of a production system – evolution of a simulation model toward a Digital Twin

Logistics and Intralogistics Systems

Compared to large enterprises, SMEs contribute more than 55% of GDP in the World economies. Analysis of the SMEs production systems showed inefficiency in production planning and balancing, inventory management, equipment maintenance, knowledge transfer, flexibility to market demands, etc. This work presents the development of digitalization of the production system in a pharmaceutical company that produces packaging by injection and blow molding. Digitalization implies the integration of the ERP, MES, Android application and simulation model in Tecnomatix which represents the Digital Shadow–the key step in the further direction of Industry 4.0 and the creation of the Digital Twin.
