Investigation of high-strength steel usage in Cukurova 885 model backhoe loader boom

Construction and Mining Equipment and Technologies

Today, construction machines are used in many sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, superstructure, construction, mining and industry. Heavy construction machines use much more power than standard vehicles due to their usage areas. In order to ensure fuel efficiency, reduce CO2 emissions and greenhouse gas emissions, efforts to lighten vehicles have been carried out. In this work, a weight reduction study was carried out with the use of ultra high strength steel in the boom element of Çukurova 885 model backhoe loader. The results showed that the values obtained when using UHSS material have lower deformation than the values obtained by using structural steel. It was understood that the weight of the boom element decreased siginificantly by UHSS material was used. As a result of this study, it is also seen that lower fuel consumption and less emissions occur by reducing weight.
