UAVs for industries and supply chain management

Logistics and Intralogistics Systems

Layouts of warehouses for manual order picking consist mostly of multiple tall racks with narrow aisles in between. Order picking can also be (half-)automatised, but the layout looks entirely different. Micro aerial vehicles can traverse in a cluttered indoor environment and thus can optimise the supply chain. In this work, we deploy a swarm of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) alongside humans to automate the task of picking up multiple packages from various locations and delivering them to the specified destination. The swarm algorithms and obstacle avoidance implemented in Unity ensure collision-free trajectories. In addition, a UAV recharging station is built to enable 24\7 operation.
