Risk management strategies for in-house logistics processes in digitalized distribution systems

As online retail booms and complex products become increasingly modularized while being sourced from many suppliers, demands on the necessary distribution systems intensify. In response, logistics systems are being rapidly digitalized and networked. Within the scope of this article, we investigate past and present risks associated with in-house distribution logistics processes. Based on developments in distribution logistics, we hypothesize which risks will gain significance in the future as well as which risk interdependencies, reinforcing the overall risk level, exist. Utilizing empirical and experimental data as well as expert interviews, we present risk management strategies for modern in-house distribution logistics processes.
