Abstract: A Z-type loader cranes which are widely used in timber industry are analysed in the paper. A 3D flexible numerical model of the selected crane was created using Adams View software and its movements are simulated on the basis of actual operations of the crane with different payload masses. From these simulations the load time histories are determined and furthermor the corresponding load spectrums are extracted using the Rainflow method. It has been shown that due to dynamic effects during acceleration and deceleration of crane movements among the loadings, which must be considered in accordance with the standard fatigue calculation, a number of additional load cycles with smaller amplitudes are introduced into the load histories.
