Calculation of the dynamic behaviour of lattice boom mobile cranes during hoisting motion with a vibration model

Lattice boom mobile cranes typically allow a hoisting capacity of more than 1000 metric tonnes and a maximum hoisting radius of about 200 meters. Crane motions cause dynamic forces on the structure during the working process. To guarantee the safety of cranes, it is essential to do very exact calculations for the boom system. In order to achieve an accurate calculation of the dynamic behaviour without increasing computing time inappropriately, special vibration models are developed. In this paper a new vibration model for the process of hoisting suspended loads is presented. This model is based on the response spectrum methodology and describes the dynamic effects in an exact way.

Host city and venue

Vienna (Wien) is the federal capital and largest city of Austria, and one of the nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's primate city, with a population of about 1.9 million (2.6 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of Austria's population), and its cultural, economic, and political centre. It is the 7th-largest city by population within city limits in the European Union.  Read more...
